WE NEED SPACE UPDATED
In her works, the sound artist juggles voices, instruments, technical music and tonal field recordings that distill into poetic arrangements and combine with dance, performance, visual images and light scenography. She is particularly interested in the nature of time. What does time mean to an individual in relation to physical and inner perception? And how does organic and mechanical time (e.g. the resonant sound of an instrument) relate to a society that strives for technological acceleration and consumption?

Pour cette performance, Julie Semoroz a sélectionné des parties de la pièce de théâtre WE NEED SPACE dans son adaptation à un espace dépouillé. Elle compose des éléments performatifs et scénographiques amenant une réflexion sur les ondes électromagnétiques de hautes fréquences et l’inertie corporelle et intellectuelle. Les sons et les mouvements nous alertent sur les limites spatiales et temporelles du quotidien, en regardant à l’intérieur de nous-mêmes, interrogeant notre propre relation au temps mécanique et organique en regard de la société postindustrielle consumériste et des nouvelles technologies. Dans quelle mesure notre perception est-elle fa- çonnée par la société postindustrielle et comment s’exprime- t-elle sur les plans spirituels et physiques, ainsi que dans nos interactions sociales.
